The HCPRO Performance RPO-68 is a synthetic polyol ester (POE) refrigeration oil, ISO VG 68 — for heat pumps, heavy-duty commercial refrigeration and systems where the OEM specifies VG 68.

When to use it

During compressor refill after evacuation on systems specifying ISO VG 68. Common in heat pumps, large commercial refrigeration, and certain industrial scroll/rotary compressors. Always verify the OEM service spec — running VG 32 in a VG 68 system causes premature wear under load; running VG 68 in a VG 32 system increases drag and reduces cooling efficiency.

Why RPO-68 vs RPO-32 or PAG/mineral

RPO-68 for heat pumps and heavy commercial — higher film strength under high pressure. RPO-32 for most HVAC, mini-splits, automotive A/C. PAG is for legacy R-134a automotive only. Mineral oil is NOT compatible with HFC/A2L refrigerants and will cause compressor burnout.
